Abstract

Textured threads made from a core thread of short fibres in a jacket of continuous filaments which can be heat fixed by a suitable thermal cycle while passing through a crimping chamber or between meshed gears or by being knitted, annealed and unravelled. Textiles incorporating such threads. Core thread fibres whould be acrylic (>=85% acrylonitrile) or modacrylic (85-50%) acrylonitrile) fibres, the sheath of nylon or polyester filaments. Generates novel texture and appearance. Tinting treatments may be applied selectively to the core of sheath matls. for further variations.
