Abstract

A disposable diaper is made from the following layers: a facing layer of non woven mixed long and short fibres, an absorbent pad of loosely compacted cellulose fibres, an impermeable layer e.g. PVC sheet and finally a covering layer of similar construction to the facing layer. By using the additional fibre layer externally of the impervious layer a thinner film layer may be used and additionally the diaper is more attractive to the touch. A portion of the absorbent pad is compressed to give greater fluid retention properties.
