Abstract

The motor contains a double-acting piston, separating two pressure chambers. A spring unit presses the piston in one direction. A valve unit supplies compressed air to one chamber, and thereby tensions the spring unit. In a pre-selected phase relationship of the piston, the valve unit transmits some of this air into the other chamber, and opens the first chamber to the atmosphere. The combined forces of the spring unit, and the compressed air acting onto the piston in the other chamber, complete the working cycle of the drive. Preferably, the motor contains double-acting twin pistons, moving in opposite directions. The pistons separate a common pressure chamber from two additional chambers.
