Abstract

The pump is for supplying fuel, controlling actuators etc. and has an externally toothed, axially fixed hollow shaft (2) meshing with and driving a second hollow, externally toothed shaft (5). The supply of the pump is adjusted by axially sliding the driven shaft to vary the overlap of meshing teeth. The casing has an internal circular channel (23) which receives an internally toothed ring (24). This ring surrounds the driven shaft and abuts the ends of the teeth of the driving shaft. There is a narrow clearance between the teeth of the ring and driven shaft and the ring prevents the pumped liquid from returning directly to the inlet region.
