Abstract

PURPOSE: To save the driving force and to make the structure of power transmitting mechanism compact, by employing an arrangement capable of driving auxiliary machinery at a reduced speed selectively when engine is operated at a high speed.
CONSTITUTION: Inner gear 11 is turned along with rotation of crank shaft 3. Resultantly, lubricating oil in oil pan 2 is drawn into pump chamber 14 via suction pipe 18, passage 17 and annular groove 15 and returned to oil pan 2 via annular groove 16, passage 19, control valve 21 and outlet pipe 20. Under such circumstances, if control valve 21 is closed and work fluid is prevented from flowing out of pump chamber 14, it is enclosed in chamber 14, so that inner gear 11 and outer gear 9 are locked with each other by pressure rise and therefore crank shaft 3 and pulley 4 are coupled directly. On the other hand, when it becomes possible for the work fluid to flow out of chamber 14, turning speed of output pulley 4 is reduced with respect to that of crank shaft 3 by the ratio of the number of teeth of outer gear 9 and inner gear 11, depending on the flow rate of work fluid. Thus, rotation of output pulley 4 can be controlled through on-off control of control valve 21 that is made according to the turning speed of crank shaft 3.
