Abstract

In moulding, e.g. a foamed plastic seat cushion, a facing fabric (e.g. woven, knitted, tufted, felt), is introduced into the mould so that when the plastic is foamed the facing fabric is secured to the cushion. The inside face of the facing fabric has an intermediate plastic foam layer (e.g. polyester, polyether, vinyl), whose cushion contacting face is covered with a synthetic thermo-formable film (e.g. vinyl) which is pref. heat bonded to the intermediate layer and which is pref. coated on both faces with an adhesive (e.g. acrylic, polyester, polyurethane). When the plastic is foamed the intermediate foam layer contracts and on subsequent cooling expands to maintain the facing fabric taught. The facing fabric is firmly bonded to the cushion.
