Abstract

Robot esp., for machine tools remotely handles objects, i.e. feeding workpieces, and dispenses with hydraulic or pneumatic jacks and attendant oil leakage etc. A substructure, part fixed (2) and part a rotary mobile base (8), incorporates electronically controlled electric, pneumatic or hydraulic power sources and cradles a superstructure comprising a mobile arm, a wrist type joint and pincers: this superstructure also embodying compensated drive devices ensuring arm orientation, wrist rotation and oscillation and pincer operation. Pref. the fixed substructure is a pedastel with telescopic feet (4) supporting the mobile on a cross beam (5); the mobile being rotated by a grooved pulley drive emanating from a roller screw and under traction from a double pinion chain drive.
