Abstract

The bolt (12) has a rectangular head (13) with a rebate (14) along each of the shorter edges. A special washer (17) is stamped from sheet spring steel initially in the form of a cross. Two opposite arms (18) are bent downwards at right angles and grip the longer sides of the bolt head (13). The other two sides are slightly cambered to form a spring and the central hole fits the reduced diameter of the plain portion of the bolt shank. The bolt head is fitted into a rectangular hole in the component (15) by sliding in at an angle where it is then held by the washer (17) during assembly.
