Abstract

One shaft (88) of the joint has a spherical end (121) which fits into a matching hollow sphere (124) at the end of the other shaft (89). Near these spherical ends each shaft has three radial arms carrying rollers (83) which fit in recesses in the cylindrical housing (81). The axial thrust of these rollers (83) is taken by special thrust washers (82) with a spherical outer surfaces which matches pressed metal retainers (85) which are attached to the housing (81) by spining the outer rim into a groove in the housing (81). Flexible rubber bellows (87) to retain the lubricant are each attached at one end to the retainer (85) and at the other end to the shaft (88) or (89).
