Abstract

A reinforced flexible tube for use primarily in oil drilling consisting of an inner tube of an elastomer or a plastics material, reinforcing to counteract the effects of pressure, reinforcing to counteract the effects of torsion, and sealing layers, has at least one reinforcing layer made up of a reinforced resin profiled element. The reinforcing fibres, pref. of glass, carbon or metal are parallel and torsionless and make up >=30% of the vol. of the profiled element. The tube produced is lighter in weight than conventional constructions.
