Abstract

A description of the construction and operation of a storage tank tap is given. The tap has two functions, the first of which is to enable the vertical liquid level sight glass to be either filled or emptied, the second of which is to enable some of the liquid to be drawn off independently of the first function. In isolating the level sight tube from the tank contents the tube is automatically emptied thus eliminating the possibility of stagnation and bacterial growth within it. The tap has an axially moving ring controlled by a threaded spindle.
