Abstract

A polymeric adhesive (e.g. polyamide, polyester, polyurethane etc.) surface of a substrate (e.g. paper, aluminium, plastic) is covered with a layer of ink resistant material comprising an organopolysiloxane elastomer/e.g. polymer/copolymer) or a heterophase polymer including a silicone phase (e.g. silicone elastomer). Particles (e.g. developer particles) and a sensitized (e.g. electrophotographically) print sheet) are transferred to the surface of the ink resistant layer according to an image, and the particles are pressed (at e.g. 14 kgm/cm2) into the ink resistant layer until they touch the adhesive coating and are bonded to the substrate. The particles form an ink receptive region and where the adhesive is ink receptive the particles may be subsequently removed.
