Abstract

The moving blade is mounted on a stirrup pivoted about an axis, and driven either by a handle or an electric motor via a gear train, the gear ratios controlling the length of the cut piece of material. A ratchet device prevents rotation of the machine in the wrong direction. The shaft of the roll carrying the material runs in slots in the sides of the support for a stationary blade and the material roll is held in contact with the driving roller by suitable elastic means or by its own weight. The driving handle is detachable from the machine and the case of the machine can be pivoted and locked to prevent unauthorised use of the material.
