Abstract
Preservative treatment of a tea obtd. by fermentation of water-oat leaves, which contains valuable nutrients such as proteins, carbohydrates, fats and mineral salts and also contains medicinal agents which can be used in digestive disorders, circulatory disorders, atherosclerosis, eye diseases, pyorrhoea and suppurations, as well as in the treatment of wounds, comprises (a) mixing the tea with animal secretions or fish blood contg. N, P, K, Ca and water, (b) illuminating and aerating the mixt. in order to develop heat-resistant microorganisms or thermophilic bacteria, (c) treating with water, (d) boiling in order to destroy saprophytic bacteria while retaining the activity of the heat-resistant microorganisms or thermophilic bacteria, (e) placing the boiled liquid mixture in the sun to cultivate the thermophilic bacteria, and (f) spraying the supernatant liquid onto tea obtd. by fermentation of water-oat leaves. The new preservative treatment affords protection against degradation by saprophytic bacteria without using antiseptics such as boric acid or salicylic acid.
