Abstract

Two base webs formed either on a loom or warp knitting machine are positioned one above the other and advanced to a position where synthetic yarns are inserted so that parts of the synthetic yarns extend between the two webs. The two webs are then advanced past heaters to heat the reverse faces and fuse the synthetic yarns to the webs, and pref. after passing cooling devices the synthetic yarns between the webs are cut by pref. a hot wire so that webs can be sepd. and so that the cut synthetic yarns form a pile on each web. The pile fabrics are formed on a single machine (e.g. loom or knitting machine) in a continuous process, thereby increasing prodn. speeds.
