Abstract

Title prod. is obtd. by heating a mixt. contg. (a) atactic polypropylene, (b) polybutadiene and (c) an organic peroxide. The mechanical props. of atactic polypropylene are improved and its stability towards heat, water and chemicals is increased and the compsn. can be used for the prodn. of films, foils, tubing, profiles, moulded bodies, lacquers, laminates, and fibres. Pref. a mixt. contg. 100 pts. wt. (a), 0.5-100 pts. wt. (b) and 0.05-30 pts. wt. (c) is formed, opt. contg. additionally 0.5-10 pts. wt. foaming agent, and is heated at 110-210 degrees C for 1 min. to 1 hr. The polybutadiene pref. has a M.W. of 500-100,000 and contains >=50% butadiene units and >50% comonomer units, or is not >25% butadiene units, >=25% hydrogenated butadiene units and >=50% comonomer.
