Abstract

Aromatic sulphones as intermediates for polymers. Cpds. of formula:- (where X is F or Cl). They may be prepd. by reacting a cpd. A-SO2-Y (where Y is halogen, esp. Cl, or OH) with a cpd. HB under conditions removing HY. A and B are different and are:- When Y is halogen reaction is pref. carried out under Friedel Crafts conditions.
