Abstract

Horseshoe comprising a moulded rubber body with a stiff insert which features holes for accommodating farriers nails or cleats. The insert should be nearer the surface of the moulding adjacent to the hoof than the surface which contacts the ground. Insert may be set in a groove or enveloped in the matrix, pref. is perforated to permit some matrix bridging. Pref. insert is of aluminium alloy. Esp. suitable for racehorses, being lighter than all metal shoes and offering better protection against shocks then running on firm ground.
