Abstract

1512983 Shoeing horses A S SILVERMAN 4 June 1976 [17 June 1975] 25805/75 Heading AIM A plastics horseshoe having an upstanding flange to overlie the side wall of the rear of a hoof is attached to a hoof by rivets 22 extending through holes in the flange and holes formed in the hoof at the rear of the side walls, the holes extending through the bars of the hoof. As shown, the shoe comprises an angled strip of extruded plastics, the portion providing the bearing surface 14 having notches therein to allow the strip to be bent into a horseshoe shape. Alternatively the shoe may be of traditional shape with upstanding flanges at the two sides of the heel and at the toe, and may be of moulded rubber or synthetic plastics (Figs. 10-14 not shown). Threaded rivets with screws or headed bolts with nuts may be used instead of rivets 22.
