Abstract

Implant is made of alloy of compsn (by wt) 22-25% Cr, 7-8% W, 4.9-6.0% Ni, 2.4-3.0% Mo, 0.90-1.25% Mn, 0.50-1.20% Si, 0.40-0.80% Fe, 0.17-0.24% C, bal. Co. The alloy is used in as-cast or soln.-treated condition, is non-thrombotic and non-reactive to chemicals within an animal, and has a life span of >20 years.
