Abstract

The cpd. of formula (I):- is prepd. by reacting furfural with 4-chloro-5-sulphamoyl-anthranilic acid and redn. of the Schiffs base obtd. with a reducing agent. The first stage is pref. at 80-160 degrees C, without diluent an opt. with a solvent and redn. pref. is effected with NaBH4. (I) is used as a diuretic (furosemide).
