Abstract

A pref. thermoplastic conical bobbin has an array of spiral surface grooves comprising pref. two parallel spiral grooves of opposite hadn which intersect to form bezenge shaped circumferential ribs which present a curved surface and which pref. extend half way around the bobbin. Pref. the surface of each rib is curved in three dimensions and the grooves have a V-shaped or flat bottom. The windings of a package on the bobbin are prevented from slipping during transport thereby simplifying unwinding a reducing yarn breakages.
