The racemic and optically active forms of cpds of formula (I): (where R is phenyl opt. mono-or disubstd. by halogen, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy, 1-4C alkythio, di(1-4C alkyl) amino, di(1-4C alkyl) sulphamoyl, NO2, Cn and/or CF3, or is 2-, 3- or 4- pyridyl opt. monosubstd. by 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy) and their acid-addn. salts are new cpds., pref. prepd. by cyclising l-(R-CHOH-CH2)-imidazolidine-2-thione in an acid medium.
