Abstract

Designed for high-speed looms, the shafts and healds are operated by a push rod linkage, actuated by pairs of cams. A rolling key clutch is provided for the cams, the periodic rotation of the rolling keys being determined by a programme control unit to engage or disengage the clutch. This holds the shafts still in the vertical plane, and increases the range of pattern repeats, in a small and simple unit using minimal dynamic forces.
