Abstract

The flux contains one or several of the following components (wt. %) 10 K2O, 8 Li2O 15 Al2O3, 15 F, up to 25 of (total) MgO, CaO, BaO, BaO and SrO. The flux has a good solubility for Al2O3 of about 15 - 17 %, a flowability of 2 - 16 " (measured according to U.S. 3 649 249), and a plastic deformation point of 538 - 816 degrees C. For applying to the surface of molten iron in an open mould of a continuous casting unit.
