Abstract

1432687 Windows and doors; hinges W FRACH and B JANKE 3 Aug 1973 [4 Aug 1972] 37080/73 Headings E1J and E2F An alternative movement closure comprises a panel pivotable about alternative perpendicular axes 5, 4, arms 7, 8 coupled to the panel and to hinge elements 9 spaced along the first axis 5, and a releasable bearing assembly 10, 11 on which the panel tilts about the second axis 4, the tilting being facillitated by a hinge sleeve 16 on the first arm 7 having a hole over-sized with respect to a hinge pin 38 and the second arm 8 being releasable from the panel. A push-rod system controls interengagement of parts 10, 11 of the bearing assembly. An angle shaped corner piece 6 on the panel has a curved guide rail 29 in which a spring member (30) connected in the rod system, is slidable. The member 6 has one limb received in a groove in arm 7. The grooved portion of arm 7 is connected by part 22 to sleeve 16. The hole in sleeve 16 is widened upwardly and rearwardly (18, Fig. 4 not shown), and the sleeve has a rounded portion (21, Fig. 6 not shown) for abutment on the hinge element 9. Upper arm 8 is a mirror image of arm 7. A conventional member 12 is attached to the end of arm 8 and articulated to the panel. A latching protuberance 13 on the push rod system is receivable in a recess 26 in arm 8 to connect the arm to the panel. Bearing part 11 (Fig. 30, not shown) is slidable in corner piece 6 by the push-rod system and has an end (50) which is located in recess (42, Fig. 28, not shown) in bearing part 10 during tilting and is withdrawn during pivoting about axis 5. In an alternative form of arm (Figs. 19-25, not shown) the hinge sleeve has two alternative holes and abutment surfaces at an acute angle to a plane of symmetry (239) of the arm. A resilient hose (14, Figs. 2, 3 not shown) in frame member 1 is expansible by hydraulic fluid to press seal 15 against panel 2.
