Abstract

Meals based on pasta esp. macaroni, including e.g. a sauce, are produced ready forconsumption, in a continuous cooker, pref. comprising an inclined scroll conveyor, in a cylindrical jacket heated e.g. by gas jets. Portions of pasta are fed in at the lower end of the conveyors and blended with controlled additions of preheated water and sauce. The conveyor is rotated intermittently, pref. in complete cycles; and means are discharged from upper end of cooking cylinder. Nutritive value of food is conserved, since no surplus water is used.
