Abstract

A filter membrane, in a single plate filter, is held by a perforated metal plate, against a circular plate wholly of PTFE, comprising upper rounded concentric ridges intersecting lower radial rounded ridges so that resultant gaps permit flow of filtrate. The ensemble is sandwiched between a top external metal plate, (with a central inlet and an air-bleed outlet off centre), and a bottom external plate with a peripheral collection channel sloping down to a side outlet for filtrate. Detachment problems, encountered with PTFE coated metal, are obviated, and PTFE plate provides its own seal.
