Abstract
Esp. for use with small i.e. domestic water softeners using ion exchanger resin on a base of quartz gravel into which an extension of the outlet pipe, with mesh strainer, is led down the centre line of the vessel contg. the softening agent. The cap assembly, with the following features, is screwed into the neck of the vessel using an external thread on its body. The cap has an eccentric large hole through which solid or powdered materials may be passed and which has a screwed stopper with a rubber ring seal and has inlet and outlet channels for the raw and softened water respectively. These consist of a pair of L shaped channels symmetrically placed about the centre line, the horizontal limb of which passes through the side of the body and has a tapped section for ferrules or tee pieces for the external piperwork. Their vertical limbs are fitted with a perforated short extension tube at the inlet side and a cranked adaptor for the outlet extension pipe from the base of the vessel.
