Abstract
The device comprises two softening columns (1), which contain an ion exchanger resin (3) which is regenerated after exhaustion by means of aqueous common salt solution, the two columns (1) being capable of being switched over by means of valves alternately into the operating position, regeneration position and flushing position, and the valves are controlled by a water meter (11) detecting the water flow; a mixing device (13) for the admixture of raw water is provided downstream. To obtain an inexpensive, small and reliable device suitable for domestic units, the flow length for the water to be softened in the softener columns (1) is sized such that complete softening does not take place at maximum flow. In order nevertheless to obtain water of constant hardness, the mixing device (13) admixes a smaller percentage of raw water at increasing flow rate, as a function of the throughput of soft water.
