Abstract
Aluminium and its alloys when roughened by electrolytic, chemical or mechanical treatment or when coated with a layer of fine particles of aluminium, will withstand flame temperatures well in excess of their melting points - even up to 1000 degrees C and can thus be used as a heat resistant material a refractory.
