Abstract

The cylindrical or inverted conical (or combined) drying chamber has a drying gas, esp. hot air, duct entry in its top and coaxial with it a vertical stand pipe for carrying a number of arms with spray nozzles at their ends, the whole being rotated and the nozzles so arranged that the liquid to be dried is ejected approx. tangentially in the opposite direction to that of their rotation. The tangential speed of the nozzles due to the drive is approx. equal to the horizontal component of the liquid ejection velocity so producing a very fine stationary droplet cloud and hence optimum drying.
