Abstract

The air is sterilised by being circulated through a filtration chambers in which the air is subjected to short wave irradiation by quartz lamps. Draughts are avoided by using a slow, high volume radial fan in the unit and the quartz lamps are positioned so that they not only disinfect the passing air but also sterilise the collecting faces of the filter; the filter thus reqired very infrequent cleaning and no treatment with disinfectant liquids.
