Abstract

Yarn in withdrawn axially from a supply package and fed to e.g. the warp of a loom and pref. two gps of three rings (pref. of polished steel wire) arranged one inside the other are pressed tangentially against opposite sides of the package to provide a retarding force on two yarn as it is withdrawn. Pref. each gp of rings is carried on a sleeve rotatable on a shaft arranged parallel with the axis of the package and pref the sleeve has a radial arm carrying a weight to rotate the sleeve and biass the rings against the package as the package dia. decreases the device applies a low tension which doesn't vary as the package dia decreases and which prevents wrinking.
