Abstract
Self-hardening liquid mixture which contains casting sand, a cement binder, a surface-active substance and esp. an alkali metal aluminate and an alkali metal carbonate. It has a use in the fabrication of moulds and mould cores. Greater mould precision and the need for compacting and drying is eliminated. The hardening time and the strength can be controlled. Max. efficiency is obtained when the mixt. contains 0.25-1.5 wt.% sodium aluminate (spec. wt. 1.48-1.18 g/cm3 and Na2O/Al2O3 molar ratio of 1.1-1.5/1. Potassium caronate sustains fluidity increased setting time and strength.
