Abstract
A common primary is used for all differential transformers, whose pairs of secondary coil elements are uniformly spaced along the path of the moving body whose magnetic props. produce zero outputs from any pair of coils in which the coupling to the primary is identical for each half. A pair of compensating coils may be added to produce control signals for a constant voltage supply regulator for the primary. Esp. applicable for control of rod position pick offs in nuclear reactors, all electrical parts being outside the pressurised zone.
