Abstract
Appts. for heat treating workpieces in a furance using a hot gas flow comprises a number of cylindrical vessels which contain the workpieces, and which can roll down th inclined furance sole on guides; the ends of these cylinders have openings through which the hot gas can flow. Pref. the upper end of the inclined slope has a feed opening to receive the cylinders, while the lower end has a discharge opening closed by a gate through which the cylinders are discharged. With this arrangement, no mechanical means are required to propel the cylinders through the furnace; also the rolling action causes considerable mixing of the workpiece of the cylinders, thus ensuring uniform heat treatment.
