Abstract

Treatment of polyhydroxylated polymers to increase the dye affinity, by treating the fibres with an epoxypropylammonium salt of formula where R, R' and R" are 1-3C alkyl, and X- is an anionic gp. in aq. soln. and contg. 0.5-10%, of an alkaline base and usually a non-hydroxylic wetting agent, with the addition that the treatment is applied to half of the fibres which are then used alternately with untreated fibre in the warp and weft and the cloth is then dyed and a cloth is obtd. having a square pattern of dyed and undyed fibres.
