Abstract

The thoroughly cleaned article to be treated is the anode. The area for coating is covered with a high viscosity electrolyte consisting of an aqueous dispersion of PTFE plus e.g. fine metal powder. A cathode of equal area is dipped into the electrolyte and, when current is flowing, is moved parallel to the area concerned until a suitable coating is deposited. The coating is then dried and finally sintered. A current of 0.05 amp per sq. in. of anode deposits 0.001" thick in 2 seconds.
