Abstract
Puckered sausage skin is closed at one end; it is made from an edible substance, cellulose or a thermoplastic synthetic material. The closure is constituted by the puckered end, this is drawn together by press. stuck, at least partially, with an adhesive in the puckered state and then pressed together again. The closure is cheap and does not require foreign bodies, such as adhesive tapes, metal hooks or tied threads. The closing process is effected by means of a tool in the form of pincers, it serves to grip and draw together the puckered end of the sausage skin. A metallic tube distributes the adhesive while the ends of the pincers press the gathers together. Finally, the pincers push the closure into the opening of the skin and are themselves withdrawn. The adhesive is made from physiologically acceptable prods., such as gelatine, starch, gum arabic, casein or collagen. The end closure should not be too solid as this would prevent the easy expulsion of the sausage meat.
