Abstract

In the catalyst reforming of hydrocarbons with steam and CO2 mixts., with the necessary heat for the endothermic reaction being supplied from outside through a sepg. wall, the heat is transmitted to the catalyst entirely by conduction through solids. Pref. the side of the wall facing the reaction space is composed of catalytic material, the wall consisting of a layer of pressure-resisting material with a thin adherent layer of catalyst. The temp. gradient between wall and catalyst which exists in the usual process, where heat is transmitted by the reaction gases, is eliminated.
