Abstract

A valve to control flow of, e.g. liquid N2 or H2, is protected against icing up of its control mechanism, by allowing the moving parts to operate in a vacuum. Pref. the valve stem is in three parts, connected by ball joints, the central part being hollow, and with communication to the vacuum; the ball joints are surrounded by gas tight bellows, and the vacuum is formed with a cylinder surrounding the valve stem. at 10-8-10-6 Torr.
