Abstract
Process for treating molten metals, partic decarburising Cr contg. ferrous metals by injecting a reactive gaseous O2 current into the melt, in which O2 injection is periodically interrupted for periods during which a neutral gas e.g. Ar is injected. Pref. injection of the neutral gas is started immediately after O2 injection is interrupted and vice-versa and the O2/Ar injection cycle lasts 2-4 secs.
