Abstract

Pre-treatment of permeable fabrics to be used as insert linings on a polyurethane injection moulding, is by coating and/or overlaying the fabrics with a flexible adhesive or elastic film to render impermeable the surface which is contacted by the moulding material. Esp. claimed for fabric linings incorporated in mouldings for shoes, boots or slippers. allows mouldings analogous to conventional integrally lined PVC mouldings to be made using polyurethane resins in spite of the relatively low initial viscosity of the polyurethane compsn. which would otherwise permeate the fabric and stiffen the exposed surfaces.
