Abstract

Injection moulding machine has a mould closing and ejection system independent of one or more injection units mounted on the same chassis and cable to pivot by >=180 degrees and to be locked in various intermediate posns. Pref. the injection units can move clear of the mould platen movements, esp. when in line with or at 90 degrees to such movements. The pivoted injection units can be locked into specific positions for injection. Pref. the injection unit is fitted with a gear pump for delivering controlled shot volumes regardless of the angle of inclination of the injection unit. Pref. the mould closure and ejection systems are mounted behined the same platen. For overmoulding process involving different materials, pref. a second pivoting injection system is mounted on the same chassis. The machine can readily accept either rear gated moulds or edge gated moulds w.r.t. the clamping forces. Different materials or colours may be injected successively via the same gate.
