Abstract
The air is fed into the base, or in a sump below the base, of a relatively deep tank so that it has maximum dwell time in contact with the sewage. To overcome the static pressure head of the liquid, the air is pressurised partly by direct pumping and partly by the action of a jet pump using recirculated liquid as propellant.
