Abstract

Transparent polyamides esp. for injection moulding technical articles is prepd. by polycondensing (I) m-xylylenediamine or a mixt. of p-xylylenediamine and >=50 pref. 65 mole. % m-xylylenediamine with (II) a mixt. of (a) 7-20C pref. 8-14C aromatic dicarboxylic acid esp. a mononuclear dicarboxylic acid with carboxylic acid gp. in the m- or p-positions, and (b) a 5-20C pref. 6-12C satd. aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, the amount of aliphatic dicarboxylic being 10-90 pref. 30-70 mole %. Prod. gives transparent polyamides which can be easily injection moulded and have good mechanical properties at high temps.
