Polyarylene ester for use as adhesive e.g. for bonding metals, glass ceramics and textiles, is prepd. by polycondensing a divalent phenol or a deriv. with an aromatic dicarboxylic acid or a deriv. Product combines the excellent adhesive properties of thermosetting resins with the advantages of thermoplastic resins. It has good resistance to high temps.
