Abstract
Soda glass of compsn. 20-60% SiO2, 0-20% Al2O3, 15-40% CaO, 5-30% Fe2O3, 3-15% Na2O, 0-2% P2O5, is prepd. by addn of soda, silica and feldspath to red waste from magnetic separation of limestone iron. It may be used to protect metallic, surfaces e.g. foundry moulds against wear and corrosion and can be used to support mineral or metallic coatings.
