Abstract
Cryogenic steel as constructional elements for transporting/storing liquefied gases. The steel has an avge. expansion coefft. 2.10-6 per degree C between -180 and 0 degree C and retains its austenitic structure even in welded zones, at deformation of 20% at -160 degrees C. The steel contains (in wt.%) : 36-36.5 Ni, 0.20-0.40 Mn, 0-0.25 Si, 0-0.04 C, 0-0.12 S, 0-0.12 P, balance Fe.
